With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Mike has established himself as a fast and detail-oriented compositor with a keen eye towards photorealism. “My best work goes completely unnoticed,” he is fond of saying, “and that’s just the way I like it!” He began his career at FINIS in Cincinnati back in 1990, originally training on traditional online gear, Quantel Harry and Paintbox systems, and one of the very first Avid Media Composers in the country. A brief stint at Mills James Productions in Columbus led to his eventual relocation to South Florida and his introduction to the Autodesk Smoke system, which continues to be his primary tool of choice. “I love compositing and effects work, and it remains my greatest passion. That magic that I felt the first time I combined two different images together is still with me to this day.” Clients rely on Mike for his knack for coming through in a pinch, and people are often surprised by his ability to pull off seemingly impossible fixes, usually saving the shot in the process!.
